Answerama

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

This policy explains how Novemus, LLC, a Texas limited liability company, d/b/a Answerama (“Answerama”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit our website, create an account, host a session, or take part in a session as a participant.

1. Who we are

Answerama is an audience-engagement platform for live polling, workshops, Q&A, and research sessions. The data controller is Novemus, LLC, a Texas limited liability company, d/b/a Answerama, 5900 Balcones Dr Ste 100, Austin, TX 78731. Where we process data on behalf of a customer who runs a session, that customer is the controller and we act as their processor.

2. Information we collect

  • Account data — name, email address, password hash, organisation, and authentication identifiers when you sign in with a third-party provider.
  • Billing data — subscription plan and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment processor and are never stored on our systems.
  • Content you create — sessions, questions, uploaded images, branding, and notes.
  • Response data — answers, votes, and any display name submitted during a session.
  • Technical data — IP address, approximate location derived from it and kept for 6 hours, device and browser type, and log and diagnostic records.
  • Usage data — feature usage and session activity used to operate and improve the product.

3. Session participants

You can join most sessions without creating an account. We store the answers you submit, any display name you enter, and a device identifier used to prevent duplicate voting. Approximate location derived from your IP address may be recorded for 6 hours so hosts can see aggregate session activity.

Please do not enter sensitive personal information into open-text answers. Hosts can see and export responses, and responses may be shown on a shared screen. Some sessions are configured as always-on or public signage, which means the session may accept responses over an extended period and the display may be visible to anyone nearby.

The organisation hosting the session decides what to ask and how long to keep responses. For requests about data collected in a specific session, contact that host; we will assist them as their processor.

4. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and support the service, including running live and asynchronous sessions.
  • Authenticate users and keep accounts secure.
  • Process subscriptions and payments.
  • Prevent abuse, spam, automated voting, and fraud, and enforce plan limits.
  • Diagnose faults and improve reliability and performance.
  • Send service messages and, where permitted, product updates you can opt out of at any time.
  • Meet legal and accounting obligations.

We do not sell personal data, including sensitive data such as religious affiliation. We do not use session response content to train third-party AI models.

6. Sharing and processors

We share information only with service providers that help us run Answerama, each bound by contract to protect it:

  • Cloud hosting and databases — to host the application and store data.
  • Payment processing — to take subscription payments.
  • Authentication — to support single sign-on.
  • Email delivery — to send verification and account emails.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case we will notify affected users.

The named providers the Service calls are:

  • Cloudflare — hosts the Service, stores account and session data, and runs in-app AI generation.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments. We never store full card numbers.
  • WorkOS — provides sign-in and single sign-on.
  • Resend — sends verification and account email.
  • Google — Google LLC provides Google Analytics 4 on answerama.com and the host dashboard for aggregate usage stats.

7. Retention

You can delete your account yourself from Settings. That deletion is immediate: your profile, sign-in, projects, sessions, and responses are removed, and an active subscription is canceled. There is no account-export window after you delete. We may keep what the law requires for disputes or agreements. Billing records are kept for 7 years. Visible session results, and all results on a Single User or Team plan, are kept until the host deletes them or the account is closed. Responses past the plan limit are counted per question. On Free, the first 50 responses on each question stay visible after a session; overflow from sessions run on Free is locked and deleted 30 days after that session ends if the host is still on Free. Sessions run on a paid plan are kept after a downgrade, and so are sessions that never stored a plan. An upgrade before the deadline keeps Free-session overflow and unlocks the rest. Stripe processes payments, and we never store full card numbers. Security and access logs are kept for 90 days, and longer if needed to investigate a security incident or abuse.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights email [email protected]. We respond within the period required by law. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and rate limiting on sensitive endpoints. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant regulator of a qualifying breach as required by law.

10. International transfers

Novemus, LLC is based in the United States, and the providers that run the Service (Cloudflare, Stripe, WorkOS, Resend, and Google) are U.S. companies. We store and process your information using our providers' infrastructure, which may be located in the United States and other countries. Requests may be handled at Cloudflare data centers near you. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, these transfers rely on safeguards our providers offer, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not market to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. A host who invites participants under 13 must be a school using the Service for educational purposes that consents on parents' behalf, or have verifiable parental consent, and must use roster codes or anonymous mode rather than real names. That host is responsible for obtaining any consent required.

12. Cookies and analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and prevent duplicate voting. These don't require consent.

If you sign in with an Answerama staff or administrator account, we also set a first-party cookie, ans_internal, for up to 1 year so our own visits are excluded from analytics. It contains no personal information and is never set for customers or participants.

On the public website (answerama.com) and on host pages of the host dashboard, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage. Google LLC provides it as our processor. It sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_1DLE0PMZDW, which last about 13 months. It collects usage data such as pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, and device and browser type. Before page addresses are sent, we remove every query parameter except campaign (utm_) tags. Event-level data is kept for 2 months. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, and we don't use advertising cookies.

We don't load Google Analytics at all for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, for visitors whose location we can't determine, or for browsers that send a Global Privacy Control signal. We never use it on the participant app people use to join a live session, or on participant and room-display pages in the host dashboard, which minors may use.

Wherever Google Analytics runs, you can opt out by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser, by installing Google's Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by clearing or blocking cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service from working.

13. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app or by email.
